about

I’ve written a song called The Black And White Song.
As you may be aware I’m a former clergyman who entered the world of entertainment full-time in 2003. I started out as an “Elvis Tribute Artist” which I still do at private and corporate events but I also write my own music which I use to try and tell stories that connect with people no matter what their background.

The Black And White Song” is from my album due out early 2018 called “Chapters - Adventures In Life”
This was recorded at The Recordery here in Fredericton with my band under the listening ears of Brad Perry and Evan Hanson. I have 2 sons that join me on this track - Joshua who plays keys, and Aaron who plays drums. Jamie Guitar ( bass guitar ) and Shane Guitar ( lead guitar ) are brothers, so this project is a family band so to speak.

This song addresses the question of good and bad in life. Listening to CBC one day I heard a conversation about death and life, and it got me thinking that death is the absence of life, just like cold is the absence of heat and dark is the absence of light. You can’t have one without the other. As a believer I’m not immune to struggle and my battles with anxiety is something that I no longer hide. In these troubled times it seems fitting to release this song

lyrics

If there was no black, there’d be no white
If there was no wrong there’d be no right
If there was no cold there’d be no heat
If there was no rhyme, then there’d be no beat!
If there was no rain then the flowers wouldn’t grow
And there’d be no fishin, ‘cause the rivers wouldn’t flow
Storms come along from time to time
But behind the clouds a Sun still shines

La la.......

If I had all the money that I ever earned
If I had no bills and my pockets didn’t burn
I’d be no better off than any other guy
But you can’t patch a hole with a worried mind.

See my daddy made his money But he drank it all away
And mama had to work every day
Dad he died on a cold winter’s day
With a troubled mind, in a troubled way
But hey.....

Storms come along from time to time
Find those you love and hold them tight!

La la......

I got everything that a man could need
at sowin’ time, I got me plenty of seed
My grandson smiles at me at night
My belly’s full But I still get tight.

Sometimes I get scared But I don’t know why
I’m a nervous man, I’m an anxious guy
I prayed to the Lord for some piece of mind
And He told me the truth through my little rhyme

If there was no black, there’d be no white
If there was no wrong there’d be no right
If there was no cold there’d be no heat
If there was no rhyme, then there’d be no beat!
If there was no rain then the flowers wouldn’t grow
And there’d be no fishin, ‘cause the rivers wouldn’t flow
Storms come along from time to time
But behind the clouds is a Sun that shines
